AND THE SNOW CAME TUMBLING DOWN!!!
How overjoyed I was to see the snow.
The past two winters, were practically without snow and I hope this is a sign of things
to come. Ok, OK... Truth be told, I just love winter. It's my favorite season. I know it
sounds odd, especially because I began life in the Caribbean, but it just turned out that
way.Well, it's almost the end of another year. Does it seem like everytime you turn around, we
are always saying "Merry Christmas or Happy New Year!!!" It seems as if just
the other day we were all worried about Y2K and the end of the world and a new millenium.
Now we are still here on mother EARTH, still breathing, still giving trouble, still trying
to survive, still trying to get ahead. As for me it's almost the end of another semester.
Classes have ended and exams begins next week. Every day that goes by takes me one day closer
to graduation, one day closer to the BAR, one day closer to becoming a lawyer.

Well since I will be busy with exams and all, I just wanted to say HAPPY HOLIDAYS to
all our visitors. We will be back in January with a fully redone and blown out website.
If you have an article send it to us. If you want to advertise call us. If you want to
support an ambitious brotha with some green click on support below. If you have exams as well,
I wish you all the best. If you need help and think I might be able to help shoot me
an e-mail. So until next time, God bless, be safe, and don't forget to help someone who is less
fortunate than you.
One Love,
Dwight

Invisible Civil Rights,
Political Power and Higher Education:
An Invisible Man ExplicationBy Stephen Earley Jordan, II
|
"I am an invisible man. No, I am not a spook like those who haunted Edgar
Allan Poe; nor am I one of your Hollywood-movie ectoplasms. I am a man of substance,
of flesh and bone, fiber and liquids--and I might even be said to possess a mind.
I am invisible--understand, simply because people refuse to see me."
The previous passage is taken from the prologue of Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man.
Published in 1952, at the peak of the Cold War and while segregation and social
upheaval were issues for African Americans, Invisible Man allows us to take a
journey along a racially divided road, through a city, college and country.
This novel allows us to see the effects of such a racially divided society,
the confusion rampant among all African Americans during this time, the hidden
truths of the society at large.

Lawsuit of the Month: |
| A Los Angeles lawyer named Richard Nixon (really!) has sued TV's Judge Judy for making him look bad. The suit, which alleges defamation and slander to the tune of $200,000 in damages, names Judge Judy (whose full name is Judy Sheindlin) and the show's production company, Spelling Corp. Papers filed indicate that Mr. Nixon took exception to some of the television jurist's comments. These include, "Where did you go to law school?" and "Where do you practice law?". The claim alleges that such comments made the lawyer appear to be incompetent.

Need Cash for the Holidays?
Millions of Dollars in Tax Refunds Go Undelivered
The IRS is looking for 96,792 taxpayers across the nation with $80 million in undelivered tax refund checks. The IRS can reissue the checks after taxpayers update their addresses. The undelivered refunds represent about one-tenth of one percent of this year's more than 98.9 million tax refunds.
Taxpayers who think they may be missing a refund check should first check their records or contact their tax preparer, then call a special IRS toll-free number for refund inquiries - 1-800-829-1954.

Mission Possible:
Get Published With Goals, Guidance and PersistenceBy Stephen Earley Jordan, II
You send me an e-mail. You tell me you’ve written over three hundred poems since you were 16 (in your teenage angst stage). You mention the novel you’ve completed and it’s really good (it really is!!!), and the novel-in-progress. You mention how the International Library of Poetry has published one of your poems. (But, whom haven’t they published?)
However, all your work is stored away, hidden from the public eye on a black little disk.

| The weeks from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day mark the holiday season for many traditions and cultures in the United States.
Each year millions of individuals and families take to road, rail and air to visit
families and friends. Homes are decorated and great feasts prepared. It's a time everyone
looks forward. But all too often, what should be a time of joy and relaxation becomes a
time with just as much stress and hassle, or so much worse, a time of injury or tragedy.
For example, traffic safety predictions alert us to the potential for injury and death
in traffic accidents. Emergency rooms annually treat about 11,000 persons for accidents
and fires related to holiday lights and decorations, such as Christmas trees. Please be safe and
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

| LAUGH ONLINE
A man called to testify at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), asked his
accountant for advice on what to wear.
"Wear your shabbiest clothing. Let him think you are a pauper," the
accountant replied.
Then he asked his lawyer the same question, but got the opposite advice. "Do
not let them intimidate you. Wear your most elegant suit and tie."
Confused, the man went to his Priest, told him of the conflicting advice,
and requested some resolution of the dilemma. "Let me tell you a story,"
replied the Priest.
"A woman, about to be married, asked her mother what to wear on her wedding
night. 'Wear a heavy, long, flannel nightgown that goes right up to your
neck.' But when she asked her best friend, she got conflicting advice. Wear
your most sexy negligee, with a V neck right down to your navel."
The man protested: "What does all this have to do with my problem with the
IRS?!"
"Simple", replied the Priest...
"It doesn't matter what you wear, you are going to get screwed!"
