With the Forecast for NYC on Tuesday calling for 65 degrees (nearly 30 degrees above normal), and the forecast for Washington DC for Tuesday at 70 degrees ..... The question is.. WHERE THE HECK IS WINTER?????????? Sure later this week we will cool down.. BUT WE will cool down to NORMAL seasonal averages. How many times have we seen the exact opposite? Where tempetures have been 30 degrees below normal for high temps.. i.e... high temperature of 0 degrees? DOES THIS EVER HAPPEN?????? The serious question is... WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO PLANET EARTH with all this global warming... LET'S do something about this now... bit by bit... instead of thinking the next generation will pay for the consequences.

Many people seem not to care about global warming as much as they probably should. Did you know that if our temperature rises an average of just 2 degrees warmer during the summer months, that instead of having 300 heat related deaths, we will bring about 1,200 new cases each year? What about the new breed of animals that may begin to exist, or the health concerns besides those associated with direct contact with sunlight?

Temperatures across 2/3rds of America has been unseasonably warm. This past November and December have been the warmest months ever recorded for NYC!! January will probably round up in the top 5, and that is despite the more seasonal numbers during the beginning of the month of January. How many times have we seen Minneapolis have temperatures reading in the 50's during the heart of winter, when instead their temperature should be around 20 degrees! Washington DC has begun to look a lot like Orlando in January. New York City's weather this past week resembles San Antonio, Texas' general January average.

And where is the snow? Last week we had a snow storm which brought portions of the tri-state area of NYC up to 5 or 6 inches of snow (central park at 3.5 inches), which all melted away to 50's and 60's only a day later. I probably am not old enough to say "in my days..." but I will in this case. IN MY DAYS, when I was in elementary school, I used to remember shivering on my way to school and going home early because of bad snowstorms. Hitting 90 degrees during the summer was abnormal, because I remember the rule one teacher had "no water bottles in classrooms unless the temp read 90". He wasnt lying about it either. And I don't recall us really ever being able to bring those water bottles in.. in june. But things surely have changed!

Now probably, one question to ask is, "what can we do?" Well to be honest, its what we dont know how to do... that we should learn how to do! Try using less air-conditioning when it's not needed.. or travel less. Petition, protest, or write to your local and national political leaders about your concerns. It may sound silly, but if you become a victim to a new illness similiar to AIDS years down the road, with no cure being found, your first reaction might be one of anger over things not done earlier. Why should we wait for any of this? Let's act now! The next generation will be our children. Will it be fair to leave them with this profound problem? We struggle with illnesses like AIDS, was it around 100 years ago? The point of the AIDS relation, is that you really don't know what will come about.. until your visiual human eye see it. The key to success in this case, is to see what you don't see! And that is that our earth is becoming warmer... and we will face serious consequences in the future. Life should be lived to the fullest, not WITH LIMITS! Mother Earth and nature are beautiful. Why are we destroying it? .... Hope we can get more snow like the old days back in New York City... and snow that STICKS AROUND A WHILE! MAKE A DIFFERENCE EVERYONE! Share this message, because we want to save PLANET EARTH! As corny as it may now sound, it will eventually be taken seriously by everyone!
