The protagonist finds himself as such racially, sexually, and status-wise. The novel constantly flashes back from the present to his childhood days. Many readers will be able to identify themselves on one level or another with the protagonist as he deals with the many conflicts and contradictions of life, religion, the law and morality. The protagonist tries to find himself amidst all the joys and burdens of life and decides that life is a balancing act. The novel should be a hit and is easy reading for everyone.
