Love starts with a smile, grows with a kiss, and
ends with a tear.
Don't cry over anyone who won't cry over you.
If love isn't a game, why are there so many
players?
Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and
impossible to forget.
You can only go as far as you push.
Actions speak louder than words.
The hardest thing to do is watch the one you love,
love somebody else.
Don't let the past hold you back, you're missing
the good stuff.
Life's short. If you don't look around once in a
while you might miss it.
A BEST FRIEND is like a four-leaf clover, HARD TO
FIND and LUCKY TO HAVE.
Some people make the world SPECIAL just by being in
it.
BEST FRIENDS are the siblings God forgot to give
us.

So you must be wondering what is this plant? Well most people know it as
marijuana, others as ganja, cannabis, herb, pot. It's biological name is cannabis and I am
sure that other names might exist as well. Pot is used all over the world by people of all
races for different reasons. Have you ever had what they call in the land of Bob Marley
some good Ganja Soup? or Ganja Tea? Yes, this plant has even ended up in brownies and
cookies! Have you ever wondered where all the myth surrounding this plant came from? Is it
all true? Why is it illegal? Should it be made legal? Does it really have medicinal
values? Join the discussion forum on GANJA. Why are governments just bent on erradicating
its use? Is consuming marijuana such a bad act that it should be criminalized? And if yes,
then what is the rationale behind its criminalization? Is it Retribution? Deterrence?
Incapacitation? Reform? JOIN THE DISCUSSION FORUM ON GANJA

Up Close and Personal with Elijah Huyghue Mr. CaribbeanUSA 2000
It was almost a year
ago that this young man was named Mr. CaribbeanUSA 2000. Originally from St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands,
Elijah has been living in New York since 1990. Being a melange of Black, Spanish and Dutch, he
jokingly calls himself a mutt. He is 28 years old and has a degree in Mass Communication
and Theatre as well as a minor in Business from SUNY Oneonta. This was not the first competition
for this beau who quickly admits to having entered a 1997 international sports model competition in
St. Thomas which he won. He gets a rush from being on stage but at the same time he is still
super
scared and that's what he likes. Elijah had no idea that he would win and was the last of the
twelve young men in the competition to show his talent. His talent was a script portraying
the struggle of an island boy in New York City. Elijah tries to go back to St. Thomas to visit
his family each year at Thanksgiving. He has an older brother and a younger sister. When asked what it meant to be Mr. CaribbeanUSA, he jokingly replied, "I have no idea." However, his answer
to the question and answer segment of the competition may have tipped the scales in his favor.
When asked why he entered to be a contestant in the Mr. CaribbeanUSA competition,
he replied, "I feel it's a good opportunity to show Black and Hispanic Caribbean men on a positive note
rather than what people see or hear about people from the West Indies. It will show that we
are talented, we are smart and it's good to be a positive role model for any young kid who
may come to the show or hear about it - to know that
there are things going on out there not only for Caribbean men but ethnic men in general."

"What God has put together let no man put asunder." ASUNDER will be rleased soon and screening dates are yet to be announced. With an outstanding cast comprising of Blair Underwood, Debbie Morgan and Michael Beach, this promises to be a hit. Hey guys go support our own. For more information, visit www.asunder.com or click to see the trailer.
Fact or Fiction:This is the first movie in 55 years written, directed, and produced by blacks, made in a black owned studio, distributed by blacks, AND based on a novel written by a black author. If we do not support the project during its 1st week
(the big box office debut), it will be much harder for this and other Black films to get into the theater
mainstream. Of the 500+ films released each year, only about 8 are black films. That's not even 2%!

"Dwight, the message is, stop phucking with me. I am gonna put a stop to this."
|
| |
It is July and that means it is summer. The heat is already kicking in and an occasional use of the AC is required. I have been home for a while now getting back into the swing of things, more focused on running my business. However, as any entrepreneur knows, it's not easy when you have to deal with irate and ignorant clients, clients who no matter what, are just out to get you.
I had a client who actually called me and left a voicemail "Dwight, the message is, stop phucking with me. I am gonna put a stop to this." Now what is a small business owner to do in such a case? If you have any suggestions please me.
This of course is a supposedly matured, well-known businesswoman in a certain community, who refuses to pay her invoices. She portrays to the world and her audience a false image of "niceness" and proper upbringing. But once the audience has tuned out and there is no one around the "ghettoness" and real deal pops out. Absolutely stunning!
Why is it that some of us do not like to pay our bills? We always seem to be creating tension and bringing each other down. It makes me grieve. No wonder we have to have coconuts and Oreos. Under such pressure and strain I am amazed we do not have more.
I agree with Oscar Wilde when he said, "In this world there are only two tragedies: one is not getting what one wants, the other is getting it."
My thought of the month may not be much but it goes like this: All you will get out of life is what you put into it. A road not taken might as well not exist. Nothing is by chance, all is by fate and we all control our fate.
My question for you is, what is yours?
One Love -------------------- Dwight Day

I Am A Girl! - Shannon Brame
I am a girl! A woman! Proud! And absolutely not buying into feminism. At 25, I am satisfied knowing I will never make as much as a man with my position. In the grand scheme of things, no big deal. I can give birth and provide food for another human being. Who cares that the beast of burden with a third leg gets paid more? What I don't want is to get something because I am a woman or whatever. If you accept what you are and were, you can beat them at their own game.
All the Blood is Red - Kirk Henry & Troy Lopez
“My work has been described as psychological mystery, and I think that fits. It attempts to unravel an emotional place; at the end the revelation is about understanding where all the pain came from.”
Meet Leone Ross, a 31-year-old Jamaican author whose work - two novels and a growing body of anthologized short stories in the last four years - promises a stellar literary career.
Ross was born in England to a Jamaican mother and Scottish father. She moved to Jamaica at six years old and began to work as a freelance journalist when she was sixteen. She graduated from the University of the West Indies and returned to England in 1990 to broaden the stage and scope of her writing career

Are You Dirty Handed?
Among the observational findings from public restrooms, the dirtiest hands are in New York. Only 49 percent of the 2,283 people observed washed their hands after using a restroom in Grand Central/Penn Station. Conversely, Chicagoans washed their hands most often (83% of adults observed) after going to a public restroom, followed by adults in San Francisco (80%). New Orleans and Atlanta were tied at 64 percent.
Out of Many We Are One
For visitors to the Caribbean, whichever island or mainland country they choose, wherever they stay or whatever they do, the heritage of Africa is a constant heartbeat.
It was brought across the Atlantic centuries ago with the monstrous evil of slavery and has been fiercely protected ever since - preserved in songs and stories, rituals and speech patterns, food and folk medicine.
Africa confronted Europeans who settled and fought over the Caribbean. It merged with them and changed but was never extinguished. A new music of life was created with what one Caribbean scholar has called "the melody of Europe, and the rhythm of Africa".
Are You Getting all the ZZZs You Need?
Does it often take you more than 30 minutes to fall asleep at night? Or do you wake up frequently during the night - or too early in the morning - and have a hard time going back to sleep? When you awaken, do you feel groggy and lethargic? Do you feel drowsy during the day particularly during monotonous situations?
Economics 101 "The Big Picture is What Counts"
For our economy, the system of wins, loses, and ties, is a host of so-called economic indicators. You may have heard about several of them used to measure the scope of our economic slowdown and ugly flirtation with a bear market.
Any mention of these indicators can be a cause of alarm or the opposite. Nevertheless, they are the vital signs of the nation's economic health.

____________ JULY'S RIDDLE ___________
A man and a woman were driving in their car when it broke down.
The man decided to go for help at a gas station a few miles back.
He made sure nobody was in the car, rolled all the windows up,
and locked all of the sedan's doors. He went off, but when he came
back, his wife was dead, and there was a stranger in the car.
No physical damage was done to the car, so how did the stranger get in?

When Will You Get Your Advance Payment Check?
The Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department will begin sending out advance payments later this summer under a new tax law passed by Congress and signed by President Bush.
The first checks will go out the week of July 23, and most of the mailings will be completed by the end of September.
Single taxpayers who paid Federal income taxes for 2000 could receive up to $300. Heads of households could get up to $500, and married couples could receive up to $600. Anyone who could have been claimed as a dependent on another person's 2000 tax return is not eligible for a check.
Taxpayers will learn by mid-July how much they will receive. The IRS will send taxpayers a letter describing the check amount and the week it will be sent. The agency will also send a letter of explanation for taxpayers not eligible for the advance payment.
