Thanks for all the great birthday wishes via e-mail and
phone. What would I do without you all? You keep me going each month.
As one visitor correctly surmised, "anytime one reaches a
certain age milestone, it is at that point that life begins." According to him,
Life begins everytime he has a birthday. "It is not at 40 or 50 but whenever
one is alive." However one only has to read the artricle in this month's commentary
to see that sometimes age is not just another number. The article, published in the ABA
Journal, tells the story of a 41-year old mother of four who had returned to
Fitchburg State College to pursue a writing career. Apparently she had applied to a
Boston-based magazine for an unpaid internship but she was turned down because of
her age. The letter read "Just as kindergarten is for 5-year-olds, there is an age
cutoff point for our program."
I suppose as Jessica Parker in Sex & the City would say "In the end,
all we can do is play the hand we are given and accessorize the outfit we've got." I
still believe that age is just another number and I won't let anything stop me from having
a blast during my last year in my twenties.
So
I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day and now that the month of the ram is
here, it means that winter will soon be on its way. I miss not having much of a
winter. Although I am an island boy, I am very much a winter lover. To be honest winter is
my favorite season. Don't ask me why! I love to ski and play in the snow. I haven't gone
winter fishing in a while, but it can be fun. Just thinking of it brings back memories of
when I lived in Quebec, Canada, and I would ponder to myself but this is stupid.
Have a great month everyone. I look forward to chatting with you
live in HOT CHAT
weekdays after 7 p.m. or discusing the issues at Mango
Tree University. And happy birthday to all our readers (including my mom) celebrating this month.
