Born Reneé Johnson in Texas, now living in Germany, she goes by the poetic name Sinsualmind. There is more than meets the eye where this 26 year-old marketing/advertising agent is concerned. And that is only if you have been lucky enough to have seen a picture of her or to have met her in person. It keeps the mystery and mystique alive.

Sinsualmind started writing poetry when she was in high school. She did not consider it poetry. She merely saw it as her thoughts on paper. Now she looks back and can see the innocence in those early words. She has been featured in Rhapsody magazine, The Visual Voice e-zine, and on many websites such as Timbooktu.com, Blaqueimage.com, UrbanGoat.com, Fireseek aka Urbanpoetic.com, NubianChronicles, and the list goes on. She has been featured on "Play Me", a compilation CD of erotic spoken word produced by Mental Food (www.mentalfood.com), and also makes an appearance on "In My Solitude", a jazz CD written and produced by Sondjata Olatunji (www.ivprod.com). She is also working with Nowledge of Self aka Rugged Terrain, a hip-hop group from Florida.

The dance and the music of Jamaica are firmly rooted in the African ancestry of its people along with the plantation period of the history of the land and have represented an ongoing popular resistance to dominant ideology over time.  The history of Jamaican dance is directly entwined with the history of the resistance struggles of the mass population of Jamaicans.

Rex Nettleford in “Inward Stretch Outward Reach” reminds us that that the anguish of renewal and reshaping within the cultural struggle draws heavily on the resources of imagination and creative intellect - gift of grace which as part of the irony of a subjugated existence served the subordinated people as well.  The ingenious stratagems of imagination and intellect that allowed the slaves or colonised peoples to outwit the oppressive master bear eloquent testimony to this anguished past.  The history of Jamaica abounds in the consequences of such irony and many rebellions. complete story
