Life is short... Live each day as if it were your last!
Blah Blah Blah!!!!It's already
November. Did the year just seem to pass you by? It's quite unbelieveable how quickly the
days turn into weeks which turn into months. Many of you will remember that it was just
the other day I was telling you that I was off to law school. And to think that I am
almost half way through is just incredible.
I am looking forward to the end of this year. 2001 was a very difficult year for
me on every front. So, if I make it through to the end and manage to see 2002, I shall be
most happy.
The events of September 11 will no doubt leave a permanent scar especially on
those of us who lived or continue to live, worked or continue to work, or simple visited
or passed by what was the World Trade Center.
Even now,
almost two months after the incident, I am reminded daily of what used to be and what is.
When I get out of the New York City subway at Franklin, I can still see the smoke still
making its way upwards. The dust, the scent, the crowd, the closed businesses, the blocked
streets, the sirens, the constant police presence... just everything.
All of this only cements my motto here at the house of YAD.
One Love,
Dwight Day

Risky Sex Less Likely for Religious Teens
Sexually active African-American girls who attend church frequently,
pray and partake in other religious activities may be less likely to engage in sexually
risky behavior than their less religious peers, new study findings suggest.
Religion appears to play a role in sexually risky behavior, ''and that
role for this group appears to be protective,'' lead study author Dr. Donna Hubbard
McCree, of the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia,
told Reuters Health.
McCree and her colleagues interviewed over 500 sexually active
African-American girls aged 14 to 18 and then re-interviewed them 6 months later. Nearly
two-thirds (63%) of the group scored high in religiosity, which means they were more
likely to attend church, pray and meditate, talk to a spiritual leader or talk to others
about religious and spiritual concerns.
The researchers found that these high scorers were 50% more likely than their
less religious peers to have waited until after 14 years of age to have sex and 80% more
likely to report having used a condom the last time they had sex with their regular male
partner.

Eating garlic can help you lose weight
Eating garlic might make people keep their distance from you, but it can also
help you lose weight, a new study in Israel has found.
The Israeli Ma'ariv daily reported Monday that the study, by the institute for
high blood pressure at Sheba hospital near Tel Aviv, found that allicin, present in
garlic, prevents weight-gain among animals fed with sugary feed.
The study also reinforced the results of previous research which found that
allicin lowers blood pressure, reduces the amount of fat in blood and has a positive
effect on sugar metabolism.
Tea and Coffee May Help Relieve Headaches
Caffeine in tea and coffee may relieve bad headaches faster than
standard pain killers. Scientists in Chicago, America, have found caffeine has
pain-relieving properties. People who drank coffee and took pain killers had better
results than those who took only the tablets. Hundreds of people who suffer tension
headaches were tested and 71 per cent who took coffee and pain killers together reporting
complete relief. Only 58 per cent of those who took the pain killer alone in the tests
carried out by the Diamond Headache Clinic reported complete relief. Reporting their
findings in the latest issue of Current Pain and Headache Reports, the researchers say:
"Caffeine alone provides a low but very real level of effectiveness in treating
tension-type headaches." Studies have recently shown regular tea drinking could be
linked to a reduced risk of coronary heart disease, with positive effects on cholesterol
and high blood pressure.

You are too Far
When I think of thee it makes me weak
I imagine ur image and I begin to peak
I see your bright eyes and your brilliant smile
I want to hold you, but
then I realize that you are just too far.

Good night my Love
Well good night my love,
My heart yearns for thee,
My hands ache for thy embrace,
My lips thirst for thy kiss
My soul awaits thine
So we can merge as one.
Yes I think you are my soulmate
You just don't know it yet
But time will bring us together
For it's written in the stars. Waiting

Psalm 129
A priest was driving along and saw a nun on the side of the road, he stopped and
offered her a lift which she
accepted. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her habit to open and reveal a lovely
leg. The priest had a
look and nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthfully slid his hand
up her leg.
The nun looked at him and immediately said, "Father, remember psalm 129?" The
priest was flustered and
apologized profusely. He forced himself to remove his hand. However, he was unable to
remove his eyes from
her leg. Further on while changing gear, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun
once again said, "Father, remember psalm 129?"
Once again the priest apologized. "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak." Arriving
at the convent, the nun got
out gave him a meaningful glance and went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the
priest rushed to
retrieve a bible and looked up psalm 129.
It said, "Go forth and seek, further up you will find glory."
