Laugh Online!!!

A lawyer is sitting next to a blonde on an airplane. He turned to the blonde and asked her if she wanted to play a game.

"I ask you a question, and if you can't answered it correctly then you pay me five bucks, and vice-versa."

The blonde really just wanted to get some sleep, so she refused politely. But the lawyer persisted.

"Fine, if I can't answer a question correctly, then I'll pay you $50!"

The blonde figured that if she went along with the game he would leave her alone afterwards.

"What is the distance from the moon to the earth?"

The blonde searched her purse and handed him a five dollar bill and turned to get some sleep. But the lawyer bugged her to ask him a question.

"What goes up a hill with three legs and down a hill with four?"

The lawyer was stumped. He took out his laptop and searched all over the net, emailed his friends, and looked in every search engine he knew. But he never found an answer. So he handed her fifty dollars and the blonde took it.

"So, what is the answer then?"

The blonde handed him a five dollar bill and went back to sleep.

What I love about America, is that I can sit with my friends (who are pro-Bush) in a restaurant, order Thai food for lunch, have a heated debate over the current administration's policies, be kicked out of the restaurant and still be friends. Although we have our ideological differences, we respect each other's positions.

Laugh Again!!!

A backwoods couple was delighted when finally their long wait to adopt a baby came to an end. The adoption center called and told them they had a wonderful Japanese boy, and the couple took him without hesitation. On the way back home, they stopped by the local college to enroll in night courses. After they filled out the form, the registration clerk inquired, "May I ask you a question? What ever possessed you to study Japanese?"

The backwoodsman said proudly,---In a year or so, our adopted son will start to talk. We want to be able to understand him."

Chapbook Review:

Maynard Anderson's TongueSplicing

By Stephen Earley Jordan, II

"Mine is indefinite, a mixed up
italic grind,
fleshing around,
seeming lure,
reptilian tails,
organism signature, talkative and
mimical, burned out with zeal,
unfriskable and evolving [. . . ]"
--taken from Signature by Maynard Anderson

In his first collection of poetry, Maynard Anderson allows the readers to easily slither through the pages of his chapbook "TongueSplicing". By way of Anderson's appealing method of constructing a poem with complex words and labyrinth-like stanzas, one can make out influences of Kerouac, Ginsberg, and even Burroughs, if at all.

From the first poem Apex of Severity to the last poem Apparitions, Anderson's variation of styles and tones of voice, piece-by-piece, take shape as though through a shimmering shower of cunning words sprinkled onto the page.

With his sharp sense for sound, Anderson's words measure up to the chapbook's title, "TongueSplicing". For example, the stinging words in "The Club" seduce the reader with venomous, tongue-sliding, catchy phrases, "After speaking to the sex-worn speaker, / intimately, my intuition leads me to the lounge / of lower seratonin grounds to drink in . . . A. . uhhh. . . / Little touch of. . . cactus blood with thorns, / With blackened mixes thickly forlorn, / ashes licked, lit and twisted . . . / And yes a twist of lime alive. . ."

Though the gist of it may not be as plain as the nose on one's face, above all, "TongueSplicing" represents the vicissitude of human beings, how we are ruled by our desires and even the forces of nature. These poems tell of our wanton wants finally being freed onto a page.

TongueSplicing is a sixteen-page chapbook, containing seventeen poems. This perfectly saddle-stitched chapbook by OutStretch Publications is ideal for your home library, and as a gift. For the price and to purchase your copy of TongueSplicing please contact the author Maynard Anderson, Mayne722@aol.com.

Last Laugh!!!
Kiss and Slap
--------------

A young Technician and his General Manager board a train headed through the mountains on its way to Wichita. They can find no place to sit except for two seats right across the aisle from a young woman and her grandmother.

After a while, it is obvious that the young woman and the young tech are interested in each other, because they are giving each other looks.

Soon the train passes into a tunnel and it is pitch black. There is a sound of a kiss followed by the sound of a slap. When the train emerges from the tunnel, the four sit there without saying a word.

The grandmother is thinking to herself, "It was very brash for that young man to kiss my granddaughter, but I'm glad she slapped him."

The General manager is setting there thinking, "I didn't know the young tech was brave enough to kiss the girl, but I sure wish she hadn't missed him when she slapped and hit me!"

The young woman was sitting and thinking, "I'm glad the guy kissed me, but I wish my grandmother had not slapped him!"

The young tech sat there with a satisfied smile on his face. He thought to himself, "Life is good. How often does a guy have the chance to kiss a beautiful girl and slap his General manager all at the same time!"

Finally, The Silent Left Wakes Up!!

by Dwight Day

In January 2001 when George Bush became the new occupant of the White House, things were different. One has only to look at the first 21 months of the Bush administration, in terms of economic factors, and then make up his or her mind.

On Inauguration Day, the Dow Jones was at 10,587; it's down 32.5 percent. The unemployment rate is up 36 percent. The budget has gone from a $281 billion surplus to a $157 billion deficit. We have also lost two million jobs. One would think that Republicans would not be comfortable running on that kind of record. But lo and behold there is no focus on the economy and so this is allowed.

We have had a tax cut which didn't help. The few hundred dollars that we all received in tax rebates disappeared in a week and I haven't really seen a difference in my meager pay check

Until recently, the Democrats in congress had become spineless, afraid of standing up to their obligation under the U.S. Constitution. A few weeks ago, it appeared that they were just about to give the President a blank check to do as he pleased all over the world. It is an election year and no one wants to appear as if they are not in the fight against terrorism. Although polls show a slight majority for taking down Saddam, the Democrats would be putting politics over the interest of the American people by simply acquiescing to the President without much debate. Analyzing a Novel:
Part I,
Historical Background

by Stephen Earley Jordan, II

Finally, you've finished it!

You close the book and return it to your backpack or briefcase or purse. Even though you tremendously enjoyed reading the book, it took you a full two weeks to complete it. Why? Well, it was only your morning travel-pal who kept you company on the way to work so you could easily escape the rush-hour rants.

This is a typical subway ride into Manhattan. I see it all the time. Almost everyone sits in their own world with their own book. Reading the book is the easy part—it’s so easy, almost any clown on a subway ride can do it. But do these individuals actually analyze the novel? Doubtful, unless it's for a class assignment or for Oprah's now-deceased bookclub. Analyzing the novel--whether it be for an oral or written presentation; or just for personal acknowledgement and growth—is far more difficult than simply reading it.

  • When Men Cheat and Women Become Mistresses -- Ok so by now you must have heard of the woman in Kentucky who is suing the Governor of that state. She claimed that she was abused. One would think after Monica Lewinsky that no man in authority would put himself in such a situation. And one would think that the days of women allegedly sleeping their way to the top are long gone. Obviously not!

So I lay in bed and listened as she told her story to Connie Chung. Oh yeah, the Governor just walked up to her and started rubbing his arm on her breast infront of one of her staff.

Mr. Governor were you high? And Ms. Former Nursing Home CEO were you mistaken? What were you thinking? Don't you know the result of the scorned mistress?

Well I almost fell off my bed when she told Connie that her motivating factor is that she does not want what happened to her to happen to any other women. Throughout the entire interview she kept saying "Well the Governor is a powerful man." Do women ever get it? Why have a relationship with a man if you are never going to wear the ring? Or if you do and you enjoy the fruits of such a relationship, how dare you cry foul when the relationship is over!!!

Men have to be careful not to be thinking with their lower head and women if the guy is married stay away. Don't act stupid.

She was right about one thing. He was the genesis of ruining his own career.

    Where Am I to Go?
I feel lost as I walk through the frantic metropolis

My surroundings swallowing me like a tiger grasps its prey

    Suffocated by the loneliness

    I seek refuge

The rain hitting me with a strong force reminding me I'm alive

    No friends to cry on
    No lover to hold on

    I'm out on my own
    Always wondering
    Where am I to go?

    Numb
    If you don't feel
    Don't be intimate with me

    If you can't feel
    You can't touch

    If you can't touch
    You can't have

    If you can't have
    You can't desire

    You can't desire

  • Islam In Europe - by Jack Straw -- http://www.prospect-magazine.co.uk

So much has been written about Islamic fundamentalism since 11th September that we might think this was a concept unknown in any other religion. This is not the case. The concept began its semantic career at the start of the 20th century, applied to the defence of Protestant orthodoxy against Darwinism. The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines it as "the strict maintenance of traditional orthodox religious beliefs" and the literal acceptance of holy creeds.

  • Anti-war thousands march in London - CNN World

On Saturday September 28th, anti-war demonstrators marched through London calling on Britain to abandon military plans for Iraq. Earlier this week Blair presented a dossier of evidence he says shows Iraq is a threat to the international community. (Full story )

Thousands gathered at the Embankment, next to the River Thames, for a march through Westminster to Hyde Park where they were expected to hold a rally.

Many in the crowds carried placards reading "Don't attack Iraq" and "Not in my name."

Irial Eno, a 12-year-old girl carried a homemade banner which read: "Iraq is not our enemy, stop Bush."

She told the Associated Press: "Iraq has already had lots of trouble. I just don't think that Bush should bomb them. So many people will die just for one man."

Her mother Anthea Eno said: "There must be some other way. People are going to suffer, as always."

U.S. Policies Leave Immigrants Separate and Unequal

For a nation of immigrants, america has long been a bit grudging about putting out the welcome mat for newcomers. For more than a century, Congress has set seemingly arbitrary limits on the number of immigrants from various countries who will be allowed into the United States each year, regularly changed the rules for both initial and renewal visas, and enacted laws that make offenses committed long ago reasons for deportation. All this is done, according to some critics, with little regard for the impact on immigrants and their families, the U.S. economy or even simple notions of fairness.

On October 1, the Jamaica AIDS Support launched its 2002 Anti Discrimination and Stigma campaign in Kingston with the unveiling of a stunning poster under the theme, “If you judge people, you will have no time to love them.” (Mother Teresa). The campaign sets out to counter the "stigma" and "discrimination" associated with the HIV/AIDS epidemic. A wall sized print of the poster and accompanying 2003 calendar were unveiled by two of the models Jamaican actress Audrey Reid star of the hit movie “Dancehall Queen” and rising reggae artiste Abijah.

At the ceremony which took place at the Kingston headquarters of the Jamaica AIDS Support, Public Defender, Howard Hamilton, who also posed for the poster and calendar reminded the gathering that "Stigma and discrimination are the two words that present the greatest harm to providing adequate care and treatment for persons living with HIV/AIDS.” READ COMPLETE ARTICLE
